A bit about me!

Hey guys! I'm Ethan Wu, and I'm originally from Carmel, IN. I'm a data science and applied statistics double major @ Purdue University in West Lafayette and also a part of the John Martinson Honors College! I love all things food, all things music, and will listen to anything (even country sometimes). Some of my favorite artists are wave to earth, Malcolm Todd, America, Laufey, and Knock2.

Virtuoso brings together my interests in violin and data science. It explores the technical demands of violin concertos through note density, chords, register, and melodic leaps.

I built a Python pipeline to analyze 25 movements across nine concertos, then turned the results into an interactive dashboard and an editable Tableau workbook.

Compare concerto movements or upload a MIDI or MusicXML score to analyze a part directly in your browser. The experimental index makes its assumptions visible rather than treating difficulty as a definitive grade.

Bloc is a show choir formation planner. Directors can add their students, set up the stage and risers, and create multiple formation charts for each song.

I built Bloc out of my love for show choir. Upload a rehearsal track to watch students move between formations with the music, then use presentation mode to play through the song.

Directors and choreographers can share shows with view or edit access and work on them from a desktop or iPad.

A rehabilitation prototype that helps therapists review a patient’s movement using simulated wearable sensor data.

I built the therapist dashboard and connected it to a backend that processes incoming sensor data. The dashboard turns that data into live charts and personalized feedback, so therapists can follow movement during a session.

I also worked with business professionals to explore how the platform could fit into rehabilitation care.

At Purdue, the CoRec’s pickleball courts are almost always full. We built dinQ to make it easier for players to get into a game without hovering beside the court.

Players join one facility-wide waitlist, queue in groups of up to four, and choose a 30- or 60-minute session. When a court opens, the group at the top moves in.

I built the queue logic in JavaScript and shaped a focused, mobile-first experience designed to feel simple even when the system behind it isn’t.
